April 13 A Dose of RealityThis is probably not a new video but it definitely states reality in a blunt and unpolitically correct way.
November 30 Converting InfoPath fields into MOSS Person/Group fieldsIn trying to develop some new electronic forms for my company, I ran into a sticky problem that I thought should never have existed. I was creating a form in InfoPath which would be used for evaluating an employee's performance. The key goals of the form were to be totally disconnected during the completion process and then send the document to a document library in MOSS. The form had a series of fields that would be propagated up to the library and these would be used for tracking and monitoring of reviews being completed. Once the form arrived in the document library, I wanted to be able to filter list of forms by reviewer using the [Me] filter. The problem comes in that the [Me] filter will only work on Person or Group fields within MOSS and InfoPath can only propagate single line text fields. All my research found ways to get InfoPath to connect to MOSS to retrieve lists of users or to build custom views for the library. I thought there should be a better solution. Enter Windows Workflow! As I thought about ways to resolve the issue, I realized that if the person completing the form could add the alias of himself and of the evaluatee, I could have a lookup process kick in as the form entered the library. The final solution involved the following:
And that's it. Now when the document is submitted to the library, I have the appropriate user name to filter by. Catch the wave (take 2)OK, I didn't do too well the first time out on the blogging circuit. I got 2 posts and then stopped. But I've decided to try again using some new tools and some new content ideas. So without further ado… we'll take to the online arena again. January 05 Does 0 and 9 just mean unlucky in love?My Irish played the LSU tigers Wednesday night and lost their 9th bowl game in a row. Wait, not just lost but were thoroughly routed. Now I know the Irish are a huge draw and everyone gets all excited to play the famed golden domers, but over 12 years and three coaches we have not a single win?? (Curious about ND bowl history? Check this link: http://www.cobweb.net/~syuran/ndbowls.htm) What's going on here? Is Notre Dame always that overrated to be invited to bowl games and get blown out so bad? Or do the teams get so pumped to knock off a nationally watched school?
ND has had some mediocre coaching since the glory days of Lou (please don't go knocking Lou Holtz) but even Coach Wies now owns an 0 and 2 for Bowl games. But I believe this will end here. Brady Quinn has never really lived up to the huge hype that always surrounded him. Yes, he now holds 35 school records but when you look at his play in the critical games, he just didn't have what took to get the W. Starting next year, we'll start to see the fruits of Charlie's recruiting and I believe that's when the Irish will be back. I'm predicting a big 11 and 1 record and finishing top 5 in the country. You heard it here folks.
Notre Dame's 2007 schedule is posted in the ND Games List. Go Irish!! |
